Portable appliances and why they need to be tested.  An electric appliance may be classed as "portable" if connected to the mains by way of a flexible lead and plug. Everything from TV's, PC's, fridges, printers and microwaves etc. Apart from the tests being necessary to comply with regulatory obligations, you may also need to carry out PAT testing as an insurance requirement.

Microwave leakage test. Door seal wear can lead to leakage levels in excess of the recommended limit. Testing of the unit involves measurement of the radiation levels around the oven using microwave detection equipment to ensure compliance with legal limits. The safety interlock switches and the door seals are inspected for any signs of damage to ensure that they function correctly and safety.
